Set in the heart of Cape Town, the Mount Nelson hotel enjoys a superb location at the foot of Table Mountain and is fondly known amongst locals as “The Nellie”. The Planet Bar is the perfect place to meet for a Cape Town Gin cocktail

50 ml Cape Town Classic Dry Gin
3 Blackberries
2 Sage leaves
Sprig of thyme
100 ml Tonic water
Ice

Add the blackberries and sage leaves in a big stemless wine glass and muddle to release the flavours. Pour the Cape Town Classic Dry Gin and fill half the glass with ice. Top up with Indian tonic water and garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme.

Clifton 4th Beach is one of Cape Town’s smallest and most beautiful beaches. This cocktail can be enjoyed any time of the day but especially when the sun is dipping into the Atlantic Ocean.  

50ml Cape Town Classic Dry Gin
20 ml Coffee liqueur
20 ml Espresso
Ice

Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake well. Strain into a Cuvee glass and garnish with 3 coffee beans.

This cocktail is a twist on the traditional Summer Cup. Once combined in a tall glass, there are few drinks that will be more satisfying and thirst quenching. 

50 ml Cape Town Rooibos Red Gin
50 ml Cranberry juice
50 ml Spicy ginger beer
50 ml Soda water
Ice

Combine all ingredients in a tall glass packed with ice and stir well. Garnish with a slice of orange and a sprig of fresh mint.

This cocktail is a twist on the traditional Martini. The Rooibos Gin, gooseberries and naartjie juice combine in a wonderful citrus explosion.

25 ml Cape Town Rooibos Red Gin
15ml Of simple syrup
2 Naartjies/mandarins juiced
1 Table spoon sliced gooseberries
Crushed ice

Pour Cape Town Rooibos Red Gin and the syrup into a big martini glass. Stir well and add the gooseberries and ice and top up with the juice. Garnish with a fresh basil leaf.

When in Cape Town during summer, it is almost impossible not to end up on Camps Bay or Clifton beaches for a sundowner. This cocktail is the perfect drink to enjoy whilst the sun slowly dips into the Atlantic Ocean. 

25 ml Cape Town Pink Lady Gin
5ml Strawberry liqueur
15ml Squeezed lime juice
3 Strawberries (cut into pieces)
2 Fresh basil leaves
Soda water
Ice

Combine the Cape Town Pink Lady Gin and strawberry liqueur in a big wine glass.  Add 2 basil leaves and the fresh strawberries and stir to release the flavours. Add ice and top up with soda water. Garnish with a slice of strawberry.

If you are looking for the ultimate pre-dinner cocktail, look no further than the Pink Lady Summer Cup, named after the Mount Nelson Hotel. This iconic Cape Town Landmark is known as “The Pink Lady” due to the unique pink colour of the exterior walls. The combination of sweet rose flavours, the citrus of the grapefruit and the visual spectacle of the pomegranate, combine harmoniously in a luxurious and graceful cocktail. It is best enjoyed as an aperitif, but will be as delicious at any other time.

50 ml Cape Town Pink Lady Gin
Big round slice of grape fruit
Tablespoon of pomegranate seeds
5cm Rind of grape fruit
Soda water
Ice

Combine the Cape Town Pink Lady Gin and pomegranate seeds in a big wine glass. Fill half of the glass with ice and lay the slice of grapefruit on top of the ice. Top up with tonic water and garnish with the twisted grapefruit rind and a pink rose petal or pink geranium.
